Catching Pokemon Guidelines
1. Check the Spawn List to find out what Terrain you wish to capture Pokemon in. For example, [Pokemon Name Here] is found in [Terrain Name Here]
2. Post your catching thread in the proper location. [Area] contains the [Terrain Name], so we can find our [Pokemon Name] here. Add [Spawn / Terrain] to the thread title, replacing Terrain with the terrain name.
3. Post your thread in the mod summons to request a spawn.
Rules
1. One spawn thread at a time per character.
2. You control the actions of all spawned Pokemon. If you would like for a mod to RP the Pokemon, specify in your mod request and post in the mod summons each time you need the mod to post. We ask for your patience if you desire a modded Pokemon experience.
3. You get a maximum of four spawns per thread.
Spawn threads don't have to be solo threads - you're free to team up with other characters to take on wild Pokemon. Each character will get four spawns per thread.
You are not required to interact with any spawned Pokemon - you may freely skip them in your post and move on to the next spawn.
Pokemon can and will break free of their Pokeball if they aren't sufficiently weakened beforehand - if they do escape, you can keep trying to capture them. You do not lose a Pokeball on a failed capture.
A Horde is a group of Pokemon that appear in your threads at random! A Horde is special in that it allows you to pick the gender, ability, and moves of the Pokemon that appear, as well as featuring evolved Pokemon. An example would be a horde of seven pokemon consisting of Wailmer and Wailord. The member who requested the spawn gets to decide how many of the horde are what species - perhaps all seven are Wailmer, or three Wailmer and four Wailord.
You are allowed to catch everything in a horde! Capturing unevolved Pokemon only takes Pokeballs, but capturing evolved Pokemon will require an Ultra Ball.
In order to successfully capture a Pokemon, consider the quality of what has happened.
Did you successfully weaken the Pokemon? Did it fight back at all, or was it a one-sided slaughter? Was it fair and thought-out?
If you are trying to befriend the Pokemon, take into account that befriending a wild animal takes effort and time beyond giving it food or saving it from another Pokemon.
Remember that quality is not quantity! A three hundred word post might succeed where a two-thousand word post might fail - realistic role-playing will always prevail over long posts.
One item that has an impact on spawning threads is Repel.
A Repel is a one-time use item that allows you to get a fifth spawn after your first four.
Every month, Epoch has three swarms found within the announcements. These swarms are special - you may post directly on the swarm thread to capture a swarm Pokemon with a hidden ability! You are limited to capturing and interacting with three Pokemon per swarm thread - you are not allowed to battle one-hundred hidden ability Magikarp, sorry.
